Beyond the Combine

Your game.
A world-sized stage.

International basketball Future touring teams U14 · U16 · U18 pathways

Opportunities beyond New Zealand.

One of the longer-term goals of the Combine programme is to create opportunities for selected players to experience basketball overseas.

Potential international tours may include tournaments in Australia and other destinations as suitable opportunities become available.

The pathway starts before the tour. U13, U15 and U17 Combines give our coaches the chance to work with, assess and get to know players ahead of potential U14, U16 and U18 touring teams the following year.

The Combine is also a development opportunity in its own right. Players do not need to be pursuing an international tour to take part in future Combine events.

Expressing interest in a Combine does not guarantee selection for a future team or tour. International events, destinations, team numbers, selections and costs will be confirmed separately when opportunities are announced.

What is a Cross Over × College Park Combine?

Cross Over × College Park Combines are two-day basketball development and evaluation events. Players take part in physical measurements, basketball and athletic testing, coached court sessions and plenty of competitive game play. The experience is also designed to provide exposure to experienced coaches and may include livestreamed game footage, video analysis opportunities, event highlights and player interviews. Exact testing and content may vary depending on the venue, coaching team and equipment available at each event.

How long is a Combine?

Our planned Combines are two-day events. The programme is designed to provide enough time for testing, coaching and development work while still allowing plenty of competitive basketball and showcase game play. Exact daily schedules will be released with each individual event.

Will there be plenty of actual basketball?

Yes. Testing is only one part of the Combine. Competitive drills, coached sessions and game play are an important part of the experience, giving players the opportunity to demonstrate decision-making, competitiveness, teamwork and basketball ability in real game situations.

Will games be filmed?

We intend Combine events to include livestreamed game footage that can be used for player review and video analysis. Event highlights and player interviews are also planned as part of the wider Combine experience. Final production arrangements will be confirmed for each individual event.

Who can express interest?

Expressions of Interest are currently open for U13 players born 2014–2015, U15 players born 2012–2013 and U17 players born 2010–2011. Separate opportunities are planned for boys and girls.

When and where will the Combines be held?

Dates and locations have not yet been announced. We are collecting Expressions of Interest first, then will release age-specific Combine events with confirmed dates, venues and registration information.

Does expressing interest register me for a Combine?

No. An Expression of Interest simply lets us know that the player would like to hear about upcoming opportunities. Once a suitable Combine is announced, families can decide whether they wish to complete the full event registration.

Is there a cost to express interest?

No. Expressions of Interest are free. Event fees, inclusions and payment information will be provided separately when individual Combine events are announced.

How do international opportunities fit in?

Our U13, U15 and U17 Combine structure gives us the opportunity to identify and work with players ahead of potential U14, U16 and U18 international touring teams the following year. International tours are separate opportunities and participation or selection is not guaranteed by attending a Combine.

Do I need to be interested in an international tour?

No. Players may take part in future Combines for the testing, development, coaching, competitive game play and exposure experience without pursuing an international touring opportunity.
